Round mauve is an exceptional heirloom eggplant from China. Delicate, pastel purple skin is offset by pure, cream-coloured flesh. The fruit is meaty and smooth, with no bitterness whatsoever.

It is a prolific and early producer, ready to harvest in about 65 days from transplant. When the spherical eggplants reach about 10 cm in diameter, about the size of a tennis ball, they will have the best texture and flavour. Compact plants grow to be 60-90 cm tall, pumping out tons of eggplants over the course of a season. Round mauve is an ideal variety to grow in containers.
